LYLE LEE KUMP JR., 49, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2011, from ALS in Salem, Ill. Born July 25, 1962, he was a Northrop High School graduate; served four years in the Army (with the 82nd Airborne); was a volunteer fireman; and drove a semi for 19 years before being diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2009. After moving from Fort Wayne, he lived in New Bloomfield, Mo., and then Salem, Ill. where his home had been since his diagnoses. He liked music, hunting, NASCAR, and camping. He and his wife raised Appaloosas. He was adored by his Welsh Corgis. He is survived by his wife, Jan of New Bloomfield; daughter, Danielle Emenhiser (Matt) of Hicksville, Ohio; grandsons, Michael and Jayson Gallup, both of Hicksville, Ohio; parents, Lyle and Shirley of Mount Sterling, Mo.; brother, Raymond of Fort Wayne; and many friends and extended family including, Rene' Culler (his first wife with whom he remained friends throughout the years). Memorial service is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Holts Summit, Mo., where friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. A local memorial and celebration of his life to be announced at a later date. Preferred memorials to the ALS Foundation with the memo "Lee's Pit Crew".
